GLSI organizes and hosts the National Place-Based Education Conference to gather, inspire, support, and celebrate the place-based education community, researchers, and stakeholders around the power of place-based teaching and learning. This essential gathering of 550+ attendees from 38+ states and several countries has both shaped the field of place-based education and helped to drive a national movement toward locally relevant, experiential approaches to teaching and student learning that prioritize the communities, values, cultures, issues, and career pathways students are most connected to. We are thrilled to host the 10th National PBE Conference in Southeast Michigan next October.

“I loved the community feeling at the conference. Even though there were hundreds of participants, the conference had a ‘summer camp’ feeling where everyone was supportive, and hugs and high fives were the norm. As a biologist and educator, I loved the balance of analytical science presentations, common sense nuts and bolts presentations, and ‘how to’ approaches in PBE. I came away from the conference with renewed vigor that place-based education has deep roots in Michigan and beyond, shown by the attendance of participants from around the world and around our nation.”
