The Guiding Principles for Exemplary Place-Based Stewardship Education
This resource informs everything GLSI does in its educator training programs, school-community partnership development, and student learning frameworks and programs. The Guiding Principles are informed by the strategies, outcomes, and best practices developed across the GLSI Network that point to highly impactful and sustainable Place-Based Stewardship Education efforts. The Principles were also reviewed by a national panel of Place-Based and Environmental Education experts for further alignment to relevant evidence-based practices and strategies.

The Guiding Principles Implementation & Evaluation Rubric is a companion resource for use alongside the Guiding Principles during teaching and student project efforts. The Rubric is designed to guide educators in PBSE teaching self-reflection, strengthening their PBSE efforts to respond to the particular conditions in their communities, and developing project evaluations and student assessments that gauge outcomes across the principles.
Guiding Principles User Guide & Glossary
The User Guide & Glossary is made of two primary components that are intended to aide those attempting to utilize the Guiding Principles and/or Rubric outside of support and training from GLSI. Part 1: The User Guide provides ideas for using the guiding principles and the rubric to steer and enhance PBSE work. Part 2: The Glossary of Terms defines or elaborates on certain words or phrases in the guiding principles and rubric, with a goal of helping the reader understand and interpret both documents.
GLSI Findings at 10 Years: Implementing PBSE Across the Landscape
This resource evaluates the first ten years of GLSI's efforts to implement PBSE programs, support systems, and resources throughout Michigan communities. GLSI completed a comprehensive evaluation across its network to examine the motivations, inspirations, strategies, and outcomes associated with implementing PBSE, and how these factors converged or diverged in various urban, suburban, and rural communities. The resulting resource provides insights and strategies to consider when implementing PBSE efforts across community settings and regional geographies.
