Direct Donation
The simplest way to support the next generation of Great Lakes Stewards and Leaders—give online, by mail (checks to 10925 Foreman St, Lowell, MI 49331). One-time or recurring gifts go directly toward supporting our network with educator training, youth leadership, and place-based education programs in Michigan and the Great Lakes Basin. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
If you have a donor-advised fund through a community foundation or financial institution, you can recommend a grant to support the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. It's a tax-efficient way to give from funds you've already set aside for charitable purposes.

Stock & Securities
Donating appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can be more tax-advantageous than giving cash, since you may avoid capital gains tax while still receiving a charitable deduction for the full market value—helping fund clean water and habitat restoration work. GLSI has an established account available for simplified donations of stock and securities.

Matching Gifts
Many employers match charitable donations made by their employees, sometimes doubling or tripling your impact on the Great Lakes. Check with your HR department to see if your company offers a matching gift program.

Estate & Legacy Giving
Leave a lasting legacy for the Great Lakes by including our organization in your will, trust, or estate plan. Legacy gifts—whether a bequest, a percentage of your estate, or a beneficiary designation on a retirement account or life insurance policy—help ensure clean water and healthy shorelines for generations to come. Our team is glad to work with you and your advisor to structure a gift that fits your goals.

IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you're 70½ or older, you can give directly from your IRA to support the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. A QCD counts toward your required minimum distribution and is excluded from taxable income.

In-Kind & Non-Cash Gifts
Donations of goods, property, or professional services can also make a meaningful difference in our conservation efforts. Reach out to discuss whether an in-kind gift aligns with our current needs.

Celebrating 20 years of youth-led environmental stewardship, empowering the next generation to protect the Great Lakes and strengthen communities across Michigan and beyond.

I have been fortunate enough to have professional development with GLSI for two years now, and have attended two of their National PBE Conferences. The PBE Institute and Fellowship have challenged me to reach new heights in my practice, and I cannot stress enough how much of an impact these two cohorts have made. The resources alone would have been sufficient. The coursework was robust, and could have stood alone. But the mentorship, the camaraderie, and the support have been invaluable. The connections made, both with other practitioners and within my own work, are priceless. I hope that this program continues to grow and offer more and more opportunities.
